Roumieu's Cat & Gnome a Favorite in 2009
Graham Roumieu's Cat & Gnome (Blue Q) was named a favorite book of 2009 by Juliet Waters of The Montreal Mirror and is one of the ten books she recommends you carry with you into 2010.
The Blue Q blog also named it one of the nearest and dearest in their in collection of 'world's smallest coffee table books,' along with Esther Pearl Watson's Romeo & Juliet and Mark Todd's Bad Asses.
Pilar's Love Letters
Bella Pilar illustrated for Galison's Love Letters diary. The diary is 192 pages, printed with non-toxic inks and comes with a hot pink lock. It is recommended for ages 4 and up and is available now.
Pilar's Fleur Comes to Life
Bella Pilar's illustrated character, Fleur, made her television debut in two animated spots airing in Italy during this holiday season. The character is the centerpiece of Italian cosmetic retailer La Gardenia's new brand effort, Fleur. The line debuted in Milan last month. The campaign also includes print ads in Italy's top magazines, such as Vanity Fair, La Repubblica delle Donne, Io Donna and Anna, among others. Click here to watch the ads.
Pilar for PIN
Bella Pilar will be part of the fourth annual Power In Numbers show at Nucleus Gallery in Alhambra, CA. This year's show had 100 international and local artists create 5 x 7 inch art in the medium and theme of their choosing. Each piece is priced at $100 and a selection of artworks will be auctioned with a portion of the night’s sales benefiting the American Red Cross of Greater Los Angeles and their efforts in aiding California wildfire victims. The show runs until Monday, December 28th, 2009.

Italian Ad Campaign for Pilar
Bella Pilar's illustrations are the centerpiece of Italian cosmetic retailer La Gardenia's new brand effort, Fleur. Bella's illustrated character embodies the essence of Fleur - a woman who is chic, confident, and aware of herself and her femininity.
La Gardenia flew Bella to Milan for the launch of the campaign, which includes television spots and print ads in Italy's top magazines, including Vanity Fair, La Repubblica delle Donne, Io Donna and Anna, among others. The press were introduced to Fleur by an invitation to her 'home,' a suite entirely decked out a la Fleur, which looks quite a la Bella to us!
Roumieu for 100 €
Graham Roumieu is part of the 100 € Show at the Hotel de Vil in Stuttgart, Germany. The 100 € Show is an international exhibition consisting of illustrators from Canada, Germany, England, France, Israel, Italy, USA, Korea, Holland, Spain, and Japan. Each illustration sells for 100 €. The show is 'cash and carry' and once a piece is sold the empty space on the wall reveals the artist's full name and county.
Each participating artist has been recognized either by The Society of Publication Design, American Illustration, The Advertising & Design Club of Canada, The Society of Illustrators, the Art Directors Club of New York or the Art Directors Club of Germany. Click here for a preview of the art.
Pilar's Wanderlust
Bella Pilar joins Ali Gallagher, Danielle DeFoe and Rebecca Friedman for Wanderlust. This group show opens on Saturday, December 12th and a portion of all proceeds goes to benefit Inner-City Arts.

Society of Illustrators Winner: Hennie Haworth
Magnet Reps is thrilled to announce that Hennie Haworth had work chosen to appear in the Society of Illustrators 52nd annual. This year the Society received over 4,600 submissions, with 418 pieces being chosen by the jury of professional illustrators and art directors. The winning pieces will be published in the annual and some will be exhibited at the at the Museum of American Illustration at the Society of Illustrators in New York early next year. Congratulations!
Hennie Haworth, Habitat
Haworth for POCKOSHKO
Hennie Haworth was one of 20 international artists commissioned by Pocko, in collaboration with Magma, to customize a series of wooden Matryoshka dolls for POCKOSHKO. The exhibition opened at London's three Magma stores as part of the London Design Festival and will eventually travel to NYC, Madrid and Milan.
Other artists that participated in the project include: Studio Number One, Jeremyville, Dave McMacken, Mike Perry, McFaul, James Braithwaite, Tabas, Olaf Hajek, Paul Bower, Postics, Ben Newman, Staffan Larsson, Nomoco, James Dawe, Adam Hayes, Fernanda Cohen, Joey Hi-Fi, Kinpro and Jorge Alderete.
Illustration Reps Now and Then
Magnet Reps' director, Chrystal Falcioni, joins Matthew LeBaron (Bernstein & Andriulli), Richard Solomon and legendary agent, Darwin Bahm, for Illustration Reps Now and Then, part of the Society of Illustrators lecture series. The panel discussion will be moderated by Fernanda Cohen and will focus on the differences and generational changes in illustration agencies over the past 30 years, including the client-agency-illustrator dynamic, competition and business strategies in today's market.

Haworth 'Said Why Eggs?'
Hennie Haworth was part of Said Why Eggs? at the East End Arts Club in London. The exhibition included 26 unique interpretations of the alphabet by 26 artists, printers and graphic designers.
Haworth at Kemistry, London
Hennie Haworth was one of 14 artists that took part in No Understanding Between the Brain and the Hands at Kemistry Gallery in London. For the show, Pocko invited five photographers and nine designers to create their own interpretations of Metropolis, the 1927 silent science fiction film created by the famed director Fritz Lang. The artists reinterpreted Lang's urban dystopia, creating new versions of the city as we know it today.
Magnet Artists in the Big Book
Magnet Reps is pleased to announce the inclusion of several Magnet artists in Martin Dawber's Big Book of Contemporary Illustration (Anova Books). Haworth for The One Ton Show
Hennie Haworth contributed art to The One Ton Show at the East End Arts Club in London. Artists were asked to create a piece inspired by a song of their choice, the only rule being that the song had to be about London. Hennie's piece was inspired by You're the One for Me, Fatty by Morrisey.

Graham Roumieu illustrated the cover of The Dreaded Feast: Writers on Enduring the Holidays (Harry N. Abrams). The book "deflates the notion of the 'perfect' holiday season, and allows the reader to commiserate and bask in the glow of a little dark, neurotic, and unflinchingly honest humor" from the likes of Charles Bukowski, David Sedaris, Hunter S. Pilar's Animal Instinct
Bella Pilar is contributing artwork to Animal Instinct at The ARTery Gallery in Costa Mesa, CA. The show will feature work from over 25 artists and will include illustration, paintings, prints (including etching & letterpress), graffiti-influenced work, sculpture, crochet, photography, plush and more. Eighty percent of all proceeds go to the Humane Society of the United States. Fittingly, all pieces will include at least one animal.
The opening reception takes place on Saturday, November 7th, 2009 and will feature a live painting demonstration by Yuki Miyazaki, prizes from Urban Decay and Humanitaire and a photobooth from Visual Adhesive.

Pilar for the Junior League of New York
Bella Pilar contributed an elegant illustration for the Junior League of the City of New York's 15th Annual Fall House Tour invitation. This self-guided tour offers a glimpse into some of Manhattan's most stylish homes, it includes breakfast, a luncheon and a cocktail reception. Since 1901 the Junior League has trained volunteers to provide support to families, seniors and children. Proceeds from this event will go to local New York charities.
